BioClima Project Strengthens Collaboration with Sister Project BMD (Biodiversity Meets Data)

BioClima and the BMD project are joining forces to promote innovative, data-driven solutions for biodiversity conservation across Europe.
BioClima is pleased to strengthen its collaboration with the Horizon Europe sister project Biodiversity Meets Data (BMD), reinforcing joint efforts to improve the communication and dissemination of research and innovation supporting biodiversity conservation across Europe.
BMD is developing the Biodiversity Explorer – a single access point that brings together high-throughput biodiversity monitoring tools, biodiversity data and analytical services to support evidence-based conservation and the implementation of the EU Biodiversity Strategy for 2030. As a Horizon Europe Innovation Action coordinated by Naturalis Biodiversity Center, BMD is helping bring new technologies to key stakeholder communities, particularly natural resource managers, managers of more than 27,000 Natura 2000 sites across Europe, and policy makers. By enabling more data-driven monitoring and reporting on the state of conservation of Natura 2000 sites and biodiversity, the project supports better-informed conservation and management decisions across terrestrial, freshwater and marine ecosystems.
As part of the ongoing collaboration between the two Horizon Europe projects, BioClima and BMD are working together to increase the visibility and impact of their activities by sharing project news, scientific results and events through their communication channels.
A first example of this collaboration was the promotion of the BioClima webinar "Understanding Biodiversity in Times of Climate Change" through BMD's LinkedIn and Bluesky channels, helping to reach a wider audience, including researchers, natural resource managers, policy makers and other stakeholders involved in biodiversity conservation.
The collaboration reflects a shared commitment to fostering knowledge exchange and strengthening connections between research, innovation and the communities responsible for managing and protecting Europe's biodiversity. By supporting each other's communication activities, both projects aim to maximise the dissemination and impact of Horizon Europe results.
Looking ahead, BioClima and BMD are also exploring additional joint communication activities, including the possibility of organising a dedicated webinar bringing together Horizon Europe sister projects to showcase complementary approaches, share experiences and strengthen collaboration in biodiversity and climate research.
BioClima looks forward to continuing this partnership and contributing to a more connected, data-driven and collaborative European biodiversity community.
