BMD’s second stakeholder workshop engaged practitioners in interactive sessions

From 29 September to 2 October, BMD held a series of interactive co-design activities as part of the 6th Natura 2000 Monitoring Workshop, organised by Eurosite. The four-day event took place at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) in Umeå, Sweden.

The event brought together biodiversity restoration and conservation practitioners focused on improving monitoring techniques and tools for Europe’s Natura 2000 sites. During the workshop, the BMD team facilitated a range of activities, including a User Story Workshop, a Plug-and-Play Discussion Forum, and a Showcasing & Feedback Booth.

Stakeholders had the opportunity to explore their specific biodiversity data, monitoring, and analysis needs, as well as provide feedback on the early designs of BMD’s Single Access Point and the underpinning visualisation tools. These sessions form a key part of BMD’s ongoing commitment to co-designing practical solutions with its user community.

In line with these discussions, BMD also distributed nine camera traps at the event, which will be deployed across Spain, the Czech Republic, Slovenia, the Netherlands, Belgium, Sweden, Latvia, Poland, and Croatia to start collecting biodiversity data and capture country-specific monitoring challenges.
