Aligning BMD main results with stakeholders’ vision

An interactive webinar took place on 30 March which aimed to determine the final visualisation and naming for BMD’s Single Access Point (now renamed to Biodiversity Explorer). This webinar was one of the many events where BMD collaborates with stakeholders to shape the direction of the project and to create a common space for communication between Natura 2000 interested parties and project partners. Some examples of such events are the BMD User Story Workshop and the Eurosite Annual Meeting 2025, which also emphasised the co-design opportunities. If you also want to be part of the process, you can sign up for our stakeholder network via our Get involved form.

Based on feedback gathered throughout these engagement events, it was decided that BMD’s single Access Point (SAP) will now be known as Biodiversity Explorer and our Virtual Research Environments (VREs) will become Biodiversity Analysis Tools (BATs). This decision was finalised in the webinar on 30 March, where Joaquín López Lerida (LifeWatch ERIC) presented the initial mockups of the Biodiversity Explorer and explained the key functionalities and elements of the platform.
