Highlights from the BEeS2026 Conference

From 7 to 10 July, BMD was part of The LifeWatch ERIC Biodiversity & Ecosystem eScience Conference (BEeS2026) that took place in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. The Conference brought together 220 scientists, experts, and innovators to explore challenges and emerging opportunities in biodiversity and ecosystem science.

During the conference, BMD co-hosted a booth with the EU-funded projects B-Cubed and ANERIS. Stella Koprinkova from project partner Pensoft Publishers welcomed visitors and introduced them to BMD, encouraging them to get involved in shaping the project's biodiversity tools.

BMD partner Cosimo Vallo from LifeWatch ERIC stopped by the booth to talk about the BMD project and explain what our mission and objectives are to the conference visitors. The project’s presence at this event was particularly important, as LifeWatch ERIC is leading the development of the Biodiversity Explorer, will host and maintain the data catalogue, and will create and host training resources, ensuring their long-lasting impact.

The event promoted interdisciplinary dialogue and highlighted the value of integrating ecological knowledge, technological innovation, and policy to advance biodiversity protection and management.
