A BMD survey gathers input to guide the design of project's online toolbox

The BMD project is inviting Europe’s natural site managers to take part in a survey on the monitoring and analysis needs of protected and restored natural sites. The survey seeks input on biodiversity information needs, priorities, and monitoring questions, and explores how better biodiversity data and analyses could support their work.

Responses will help shape the design of BMD’s Single Access Point (SAP), which will provide free access to biodiversity data and tools. Developed in co-design with stakeholders, the platform aims to support conservation practice and decision-making across Europe.

The survey takes approximately 10 minutes to complete and targets those working to protect, monitor, and restore Europe’s natural sites, such as Natura 2000 site managers. It asks about the types of biodiversity data and analyses participants are most interested in, and where improvements could help conservation efforts. One section invites participants to create a “user story,” a short narrative describing a biodiversity question or task, which will guide the thematic focus of BMD’s visualisation tools.

This is a valuable opportunity for those who have not been able to join project’s previous stakeholder workshops to influence the early direction of BMD’s Single Access Point and visualisation tools, highlighting which aspects of biodiversity data and analyses should be prioritised.

The deadline for completing the survey is 14 November

Participation is voluntary, and you may withdraw at any time.
